Electronic cigarettes are a recent innovation that provides a high-tech alternative to smoking traditional cigarettes. Personally, I’ve been using electronic cigarettes for about a year now. I’ve never looked back, and I haven’t touched a regular cigarette since. I think that every smoker should at least seriously consider switching to electronic cigarettes. They are the most fantastic smoking innovation since the birth of the filter tip.

Like everyone else, I was very well aware of the health risks inherent in smoking cigarettes. Unlike most, however, I didn’t start smoking when I was too young to fully understand the implications a tobacco habit would have on my health. By the time I started, I was well aware of the risks involved, but I decided to make what I felt was an informed choice to become a smoker.  I really enjoyed smoking; I found it one of the finer pleasures in life. Just the act of taking a drag and holding a cigarette filled me with an indefinable sense of satisfaction, and I found the nicotine to be both relaxing and simulating at the right time.

It’s incredibly taboo to speak these days about the pleasant effects of nicotine, lest you hook a young smoker with your endorsement. Until I tried electronic cigarettes, I would never have broken this taboo. I’d made the choice to enjoy nicotine as a responsible adult in charge of my own destiny, but I was starting to regret it.

As I got older I became more aware of my own mortality, and I felt my body faltering under the strains I was putting on it. I was skeptical to say the least but I decided to get one. It was fantastic. I couldn’t believe the difference. For one thing, all my nicotine cravings were eliminated completely in a way that nicotine gum or a nicotine patch just couldn’t achieve. By inhaling the nicotine my body craved, I had a far more authentic experience.

Electronic cigarettes are a fantastic invention that has improved my life immeasurably. I can now enjoy smoking without the worry of ruining my lungs. Now I never need to give up that pleasure I enjoyed so much, and you’ll see me with an electronic cigarette in my hand for many years to come.

However, if when you buy cigars your budget is tight then there are few options available that provide as rewarding a smoke as the Hav-A-Tampa Jewel.

For a well priced, every day smoke for those on limited budgets, the Hav-A-Tampa Jewel is the only choice worth considering. There’s just something so satisfying about these small Winchester Cigars that I love. I’ve been a cigar smoker for many years, and I’ve yet to find a better product in this category. Winchester Little Cigars come in several flavors, but the one I find the best is the “Full Flavored Rich” variety. This little cigar is so delicious that it has completely replaced cigarettes in my smoking routine. Whenever I would normally reach for a cigarette, I now reach for a Winchester Little Cigar, and I’m really enjoying it far more than I ever would a regular cigarette. They are no substitute for a full sized cigar that you can enjoy at a leisurely pace, but if you’re trying to fit a quick smoke into a busy lifestyle, then there’s nothing better. They also come in a menthol variety, which can be really great for a change. There’s something really amazing about the minty flavor of these that leaves menthol cigarettes in the dust. I’m about to say something that very few tobacco aficionados would ever admit: I smoke White Owl cigars. Now, while I know that a lot of purists will be turning off their computers in disgust right now, I think that someone has to stick up for these very misunderstood cigars.

On special occasions, yeah, you’ll see me with the finest. I’m usually spotted with an H. Upmann or a Macanudo hanging out of my grill. Whether it’s a wedding or a wake, I wouldn’t be seen dead with a White Owl in my hands, in my mouth, or anywhere on my person. If it’s a special occasion, I don’t buy cheap cigars online or anywhere else!

However, it’s not always a special occasion and I’m not always in the market for an expensive Cuban cigar. Unlike many, I’m a true cigar smoker. A cigar isn’t an occasional treat for me, it’s an every day habit, and that’s exactly how I like it.  However, while I look forward to the days when I can puff away on the finest Cubans everyday, it’s just not possible. I mean, who can afford to drop that type of money every day on a smoke?

That’s why I smoke White Owl. Whenever I see White Owl for sale in a gas station or supermarket, I make sure to pick up a pack.  They’re as good as cheap cigars can get. You’ll hear a lot of cigar lovers say that White Owl suck. Of course White Owl suck…in comparison to a fine Cuban. But it’s a completely unfair comparison. You’re comparing a $7 box of cigars to a $70+ single. It’s like comparing a bottle of E&J Brandy to a bottle of  Remy Martin Louis XIII cognac, or comparing Cold Duck to Cristal. It might be ostensibly the same product, but it’s in a totally different category.

To be honest I don’t care that most people don’t have a very good opinion of White Owl. I don’t smoke cigars to look cool, or to pretend to be rich, or to impress cigar snobs. I smoke them because they are good and I enjoy them.  That’s why if I see White Owl for sale at less than $10 a box,  I always feel like I’m getting a good deal. If you rate the cigar on it’s own merits, you’ll see it’s not so bad at all.

One thing you need to be careful with when smoking White Owl is the fact that it does get really harsh when the cigar is nearly finished. These aren’t the kind of cigars that you can smoke right to the stub. Luckily, White Owl are so cheap that you don’t have to worry about wasting them by leaving quite a bit of the cigar in the ashtray.

I’d recommend White Owl to anyone who is looking for a good value, everyday smoke, or maybe someone who is just getting into cigars and doesn’t want to drop a lot of cash.

Ask any smoker to describe the flavors they love in their tobacco, and it’s unusual that you will ever hear the word “fruit.” Fruit and tobacco is an unusual and often overlooked combo. While it’s been popular in the middle east for hundreds of years to impregnate their tobacco with the flavor and aroma of fruits, here in the US it’s only recently that fruit flavored tobaccos have come to the fore.

Apple pipe tobacco is one of the most popular ways smokers enjoy a fruity smoke, and if you’re a pipe smoker it’s a great way to get into enjoying fruity tobacco. While tobacco and apples doesn’t intuitively seem like a great flavor combination, it actually works incredibly well. The apple taste is subtle and not overpowering, and it complements the sweet notes of the burley tobacco in this blend.  It’s a classic blend that’s often overlooked, and if you’re looking for a medium strength fruity smoke, then it’s definitely one to consider.

If you’re not much of a pipe smoker, maybe you should consider Chocolate Dutch Masters? While not strictly a “fruit” flavored cigar, it does inhabit the same category of smokes with a novelty flavor. Chocolate Dutch masters are a pretty discount cigar brand. It’s never going to have the same cachet of the finer cigars like a Montecristo or a Romeo Y Julietta. However, it’s important to recognize the distinction between a cheap cigar, and a cheaply made cigar. Chocolate Dutch Masters are definitely in the former category. They are one of the highest quality machine rolled, discount cigars that you can buy, and at a great value price. The chocolate flavor isn’t overpowering in the slightest. This isn’t like smoking a Hershey bar! It’s just a great tasting cigar with subtle chocolate undertones, in the same way as Guinness Irish Stout has that subtle chocolate aftertaste behind the more prominent flavors. If you’re in the market for a budget cigar, and you’re intrigued by the chocolate taste, then it comes highly recommended.

Grape Swisher Sweets are one of the most common fruit flavored cigars.  If you’ve smoked a fruit flavored cigar, chances are that it was one of these. It’s not exactly the most sophisticated smoke, but the artificial grape flavor is strangely addictive. It’s reminiscent of kool-aid or a grape pixy stick. If you feel like reminiscing about your childhood in a slightly more adult way, then you can’t go wrong with the candy sweet taste of Grape Swisher Sweets.

The same goes for Peach White Owl, which also have a very sweet taste. However, unlike the Grape Swisher Sweets, the fruit flavor in Peach White Owl is far more natural. It actually tastes like a bite from a juicy peach, albeit one with a strong tobacco flavor. The smoke is very sweet, but many people find them to be slightly harsh when you get further down the cigar. Despite the last few drags being almost unsmokeable, Peach White Owl is a good choice for some budget fruitiness, especially if you buy cigars online.
